Visitor opinions

This was overall an amazing experience! Just know that it is a long day, and you are picking people up at various resorts along the way which increases the time. Tulum was amazing to walk around and to view the various parts of the ruins. The cenote part of the trip was incredible!!

However, the road is extremely bumpy, so take Dramamine if you are prone to motion sickness. The snorkeling part of the trip was also very fun! There were a lot of fish to see. I could have done without the lunch – it was fine, but it was also very late. You get on the van early morning and while there are snacks on the van, the lunch at 2:00 was very late given all the activities before it.

Tour guides were awesome. Very knowledgeable and also supportive for myself who was scared during the snorkeling (I’m a chicken lol).

Overall was an amazing day. Our guide (Cesar) and driver (Carlos) were both incredibly friendly, reliable and entertaining. Cesar kept us well-informed on schedule, catered to Spanish and English-speaking participants and kept giving us cool information on each stops at the day tour in Tulum Yalku Plus.

The first stop was the Tulum ruins where been absolutely stunning and beautiful, and there is a little shopping area on site with things to look at (and typical tourist traps seen everywhere else).

The second stop was a semi-closed cenote which was very cool. Local facilities are clean and adequate, you get to swim through the cave for a little while before moving on. Overall very interesting if you haven’t seen one before.

Third stop was a brackish water snorkel which was “ok”. You do see plentiful amounts of colorful fish but is it mostly rocky and mangroves, which isn’t as beautiful as a true reef. One other issue we had is due to the brackish water, the water is intermittently blurry. Take these comments with a grain of salt, as we are avid snorkel/reef enthusiasts, so I think most people actually really liked it if they were beginners.

Last stop was at a beach club in Tulum Yalku Plus, which at the end of the day seems ridiculous since all of us are staying at all-inclusive resorts, but honestly, it ended up being amazing.

It is not so much a beach club as a little slice of paradise, complete with beautiful pristine beach, beach mattresses and even a cabana with swings to sit on at the bar!, It is there that you get your meal (which is ready immediately after arrival since they take your order earlier in the day, and was delicious). The site is clear, stunning view and is essentially what you dream of when you want to escape to a tropical paradise.

Our only issue with the whole day was that “food provided” ended up being at 3:30pm, not actually at lunch. This would not be an issue, but I think proper expectations should be set ahead of time because we were getting pretty hungry by that time, taking some pleasure away from the day.

Other than that, we honestly can’t recommend enough this day trip (especially Cesar and Carlos!) if you like Mayan history, mysterious Cenote, snorkeling for colorful fish and finishing the day at sunset on a private, isolated beach with a cool cabana.
